Tūāwhiorangi

I watch as they drive by
People living their lives
Oblivious
Im watching
Admiring
Intriguingly
As they’re
Driving
Speeding
Living
And I dont know them
I dont know their story
And I may never know their story
And as the sunsets over the hills
I see the light
As one by one
The day turns to night
And the wind burns my skin as I write
And that lose piece of hair flails by my eye
And the harakeke swags
And the grass waves
And the people are living
Stories I’ll never know.
